About the blog

Should I blog or should I not?

I started The Voyager’s blog in July 2009, driven by an interest in this media as a professional communicator. What could the potential of the blog be? How could I handle the blog? Who would read it? I was wondering whilst making my mind up if I should have started my own blog. I decided to give it a go and join the blogosphere.

Profits Vs. Passions

At this point it was time for me to choose a topic. While it looks like an easy task, in reality it is not.

I did not want to make money blogging but I was determined to give my blog a chance to success and readers a reason to visit my site. To make my blog flourish, I needed a topic I have enough – experience, passion, interest – to write about.

What am I about? What topics do others come to me for advice on? What topics keep coming up in conversation for me? Travelling.

The third step

Picking the name for the blog might not be as important decision as naming the first child. But the blog is my brainchild and the name could stick around for a long time. As a beginner, I wanted something topical, short and simple.

I made a list of possible names and got outside help by asking friends and family members to look at them. I checked the availability of the shortlisted name and I was done and ready to put my fingers on the keyboard. The Voyager would have been my business card – the first readers would have seen about my blog.

I hope you enjoy reading The Voyager’s blog as much as I enjoyed writing it. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.

If you like it, tell other people. If you don’t like it, tell me.
